Ohlin Groundswell

Ohlin Groundswell, a multifaceted artist hailing from Mullingar, Ireland, was born on March 27th, 1964, into a family steeped in both Irish and Norwegian heritage. His early years were spent amidst the verdant landscapes of Ireland until the age of 7, when a poignant familial tragedy prompted a move to the picturesque city of Bergen, Norway.

The relocation was spurred by a desire to provide care for Ohlin's terminally ill aunt, a decision that would irrevocably alter the course of his young life. In the wake of his aunt's passing and his parents' subsequent divorce, Ohlin sought solace in the realms of literature and fiction, finding refuge in the eerie tales of H.P. Lovecraft and the epic sagas of J.R.R. Tolkien.

It was during this formative period of upheaval and introspection that Ohlin discovered a newfound passion for music, catalyzed by a transformative experience at a heavy metal concert at the age of 13. Enthralled by the raw energy and visceral power of the music, Ohlin embarked on a journey of musical exploration, eventually seeking out bass guitar lessons to channel his creative impulses.

At 18, Ohlin ventured to Oslo to pursue higher education, where he found himself drawn to the vibrant metal community that thrived within the city's bustling streets. Regular visits to Dante Stavig's music shop provided Ohlin with a sense of camaraderie and belonging, as he forged friendships with fellow metalheads who shared his passion for music and artistic expression.

It was during one fateful evening at Dante's apartment, immersed in the intoxicating sounds of band demos and the company of like-minded souls, that Ohlin's musical talents caught the attention of Dante and Blake, the founders of Malediktum. Impressed by his spontaneous improvisation on bass guitar, Ohlin was extended an invitation to join the ranks of Malediktum as their bassist, a role he embraced with fervor and dedication.

Despite his integral role within Malediktum, Ohlin found himself with ample time to pursue his own creative endeavors outside of the band's musical compositions. In 1989, he released his debut anthology of horror short stories, Eerie Encounters & Other Tales of Madness, captivating readers with his macabre imagination and evocative prose.

In 2005, Ohlin embarked on a new literary journey with the release of Shadowvore, the first installment in his acclaimed Fallen Hero trilogy. This gripping saga of heroism, betrayal, and redemption captivated readers with its immersive storytelling and richly drawn characters. The trilogy continued with Soul Annihilation in 2009 and concluded with Corpse Revelation in 2013, solidifying Ohlin's reputation as a master storyteller in the realms of dark fantasy and horror.

Throughout his illustrious career, Ohlin Groundswell has remained a steadfast and enigmatic presence within both the realms of music and literature, leaving an indelible mark on the cultural landscape with his boundless creativity and unyielding passion for artistic expression.
